Integration
Below
you can find a list of FileDirector features that manage integration.

and view them at the end of each feature description.
Internet/Intranet Transparency
The FileDirector WinClient application is programmed in Microsoft's .Net programming language. This runs through the Internet Information Services in Windows and uses http for connectivity, the universal communication standard in a web browser. Unlike other solutions, this enables FileDirector to use its full functionality with web access, such as scanning or the editing of documents.
Scalable from 1 to 128 Servers
To ensure that FileDirector is flexible in enterprises of every size, scalability was top of the developers feature list. In order to optimize the performance of the entire system, or to guarantee the permanent availability, both the database and the FileDirector server can be distributed over several systems. Additional servers can be provided for safe load-balancing or for redundancy.
Microsoft SQL or Oracle Database
Index information and other settings stored in FileDirector is typically done in a Microsoft SQL database, however Oracle databases are just as compatible and efficient. These platforms are the industry standard as they’re robust, infinitely organic and extremely secure. FileDirector takes advantage of these standards which make the software universally compatible.
Active Directory/LDAP Based Security
User accounts and groups are simply inherited from your Windows Active Directory, or SAM tree, and can be used in FileDirector. The software will automatically set up a number of FileDirector groups in your Active Directory and these can be used to control permissions to the application.
Windows & Web Browser Clients As Standard
With FileDirector you have the option of both a Windows based thick-client and a web browser based thin-client and you have almost identical and complete functionality through either interface.
Online/Offline Working
It is possible to work offline with FileDirector, which means that indexing, scanning and some other functions can be achieved without an internet or network connection. When the connection is re-established the documents can be uploaded to the server along with their index information.
Server Based ODBC Links
With FileDirector you have the ability to link the
database of another commonly used application with the indexing of a
document. For example: If your accounting software already has data,
such as name, address and postcode, entered into it, you can link the
two applications so that FileDirector will recognize when the postcode
field has been entered. This will, in turn, extract the information
from the accounting software and populate the rest of the index fields
with data because postcodes match.
Codeless Application Linking
The Codeless Connector is a unique and extremely useful tool within FileDirector. It allows you to link with another, commonly used application, without the need for writing any additional software links. This has various applications but the most common is to perform a search in your database application, such as Sage Accounting, return the record and then you can perform a simple double click in a field to return all relevant documents to do with that record in FileDirector.
SAP Integration
Through FileDirector’s SAP module you can bring the power of
document and content management to one of the industry’s leading
ERP solutions.
Process Management / Workflow With Unique Graphical Interface
FileDirector has a unique and comprehensive Graphical Process Management and Workflow module available. It is used to create a pre-defined route for a document to follow through an organization. It is typically used for documents that require varying levels of authorization throughout a business such as purchases, orders, invoices and HR documents. A path or route can be developed through the graphical interface which is designed to deliver the document to different employees in the business. This will ask for authorization from those employees before the document can continue on its process can complete.
Virtually Unlimited Document Cabinets
Document Cabinets are the top level of the FileDirector archiving
structure; they contain all of the images, data and configuration which
are stored. It is possible to have a virtually unlimited number of
cabinets in a system.
Virtually Unlimited Document Types
Document types are the secondary level of filing structure in a FileDirector Cabinet. They have been created to allow users to differentiate between the types of documents that are stored in a cabinet. For example a cabinet for the Human Resources department could contain document types such as, employee records, payroll information, holiday forms and training information. It is possible to have a virtually unlimited number of document types in a cabinet.
Virtually Unlimited Index Fields
Index fields contain the reference information for a document stored in FileDirector. Each document must typically have index information applied to it to allow it to be retrieved again once stored. Typical index fields are Name, Date and Reference numbers. It is possible to have an almost unlimited number of index fields in a document type.
Virtually Unlimited Documents Within A Cabinet
It is possible to store a virtually unlimited number of documents within a FileDirectorcabinet, these documents can be in any format, images or electronic files.
ECopy ShareScan OP Integration
Many of today’s scan-enabled multifunctional copier devices
are now compatible with ECopy ShareScan. This is a device which
attaches to many copier devices and allows you to, not only securely
scan a document, but to index it and deliver it straight into
FileDirector – all from the one multifunctional device and
without the need to index back at your desk. For more details please

Microsoft Office Integration

The Microsoft Office Integration function allows documents to be
saved directly into FileDirector from Office applications. A
‘Send To FileDirector’ button exists in the toolbars of
Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint and Outlook which, when clicked, will
send the document you are working on into the system and prompt you to
apply index information to it.
Microsoft SharePoint Integration
FileDirector offers you a premium option to directly retrieve and load your documents into Microsoft SharePoint Portal Server.
